Students and the parents of students may submit entries to the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen programs using Scholar's App.  Scholar's App is a platform designed to connect students to scholarship opportunities.

 

In the past, we have observed some difficulties that students and parents have experienced with Scholar's App.  To help relieve some of those concerns, we have prepared the documents below.  

 

Each student must have their own, unique Scholar's App account.  That means that each student must have their own email address.  Parents must also have a unique email address.  One parent account may be tied to multiple students if more the family has more than one student participating in these programs.

 

 

If a Patriot's Pen student does not have an email address and the parents do not want to create one, then use the following when setting up the accounts.

 

Parent account - email address "momordad.smith@gmail.com".

Student 1 account - email address "momordad.smith@gmail.com+Susie"

Student 2 account - email address "momordad.smith@gmail.com+Jimmy"

 

This approach only works for Patriot's Pen participants.  Voice of Democracy participants must have their own email address.

 

We have heard from parents with concerns about the types of questions asked in the "About Me" portion of the account registration process.  Most of those questions can be skipped in one way or another.  Many have options of "Other" or "Prefer Not To Answer".

Students may use Scholar's App exclusively to upload all of the materials needed for their entry.  This is not required as a physical copy and application may also be supplied as an entry.
